Dear Chamber Member:
As was indicated in a previous e-mail, the Shelby Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has been meeting regularly to address the issues resulting from the City of Shelby’s decision to terminate its economic development contract with the Shelby Chamber. While the Board is currently developing a long term strategy, it has been forced to take some immediate actions to deal with the revenue shortfall imposed by the City’s decision. These actions are as follows:
- The termination, effective October 8, 2010, of both Chamber employees (Carol Knapp and BJ Shaull)
- .Reduction in operational expenses (i.e. phone/computer lines, rental cost, etc.).
- The temporary suspension of all Chamber services.
It is the intention of the Board of Directors to be able to present a recommendation, to the Chamber Membership, by the first of the year, which will address a possible restructuring of the Chamber organization. Prior to issuing its final recommendation, as circumstances warrant, the Board will notify the membership of any significant developments.
The Chamber Board members appreciate your patience and understanding during this time of transition, and will work diligently to serve your interest.
Sincerely,
Mark T. Collins Theresa Roth, RN, Ph.D.
Chair, Board of Directors Vice-Chair, Board of Directors
