Real Estate Tax:

Richland County imposes a tax on land and improvements on land.  Real estate taxes are based on 35% of the market value of the building and property.  The county reappraises all buildings and properties every six years with values computed on comparable sales, condition of property, etc.

For County purposes—support of Newhope Center 6.00 mills; Children Services 2.00 mills; Mental Health 1.00 mills; Dayspring 0.4 mills; and General Fund 2.0 mills for a total of 11.40 mills. 

The Shelby community has six townships:  Bloominggrove, Cass, Franklin, Jackson, Plymouth, and Sharon.  The following table reflects 2007 full tax rates for each of the taxing districts, within the City of Shelby and outside of the City corporation limits.
