OUR BEGINNINGS…

In the 1950s, a group of businessmen started the Shelby Business Association.  This organization became affiliated with the Ohio Chamber of Commerce in January 1960 and the name changed to the Shelby Chamber of Commerce.  The Shelby Chamber was incorporated in 1988.

Although this is the official beginning of the Shelby Chamber of Commerce, documentation dating back to 1925 that shows the economic development efforts of the Shelby Booster’s Association.  The Shelby Booster’s Association was organized January 1, 1925.  Its object was “to promote trade and commerce, reform abuses where any may exist, and create a more friendly intercourse between merchants and their customers”.
